Genomics - DNA

Task Description : This afternoon in home class room 5 was doing Genomics , We had to learn about DNA and what it is and does . My Partners were Maree and Efe-lata we had to create something to present to the class . As we were all done we all got into partners and sat in a circle facing towards our buddy's. As the circle kept coming and new partners arrived we all got to learn something from them ! 

Genomics Fun Day!

Today was our Genomics Fun day . We had Glen Innes Primary and Glen Brae Primary come to Pt England School because that's were it was held to have an mini competition about what we have learnt about Genomics so it was like basically year 7 & 8 ‘s mixed up into groups. We are grateful to have this opportunity!! This event took part in the morning at 9.00 - 9.15 am for the start and finishes at 12 pm ! My Team was a team of 8 there was 6 from Pt England and 2 from Glen Bre and _ from Glen Innes . In our group  was Me , Maree , Tisa , Anania , Frederick , John and the two boys from glen Innes which was Jaden and Matthew .

There were lots of stages to go though meaning all of them included Genomics there were quizzes that we participated in and there were answers and prizes to be won ! All the quizzes about genomics was all mainy based on what we learnt about genomics with our class and our teacher .

My Highlight of the day had to the ending because after doing our mini prize giving me and Maree got a prize and said a Thank you speech to Mrs Yanny and Dr Terry ! But also my highlight was the quizes because it got to test our brain !

Genomics - Cheek Cells

Today in the early afternoon at 12.00pm Room 5 home class got the opportunity to look at our own cheek cells using the Microscope , First we had scrape our cheek saliva with the Popsicle stick and then we had to put it on this clear thingy with a drop of water and mixed it together and waited for it to dry which Mrs IIaoa had put it into the fry pan to dry faster once it was all dried she had put this blue thingy on it and waited for it to dry and then we all got to look at all our own cheek cells with our buddy's . My buddy was Angel and it was pretty cool looking at our cheek cells .
