SUMMER LEARNING JOURNEY 2018 - 2019
WEEK 4 PROTECT AND PRESERVE
DAY 5 THE SKY’S THE LIMIT!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Activity 1: Environment Day - Beat Plastic Pollution [4 points]
Every year we celebrate World Environment Day in June. On World Environment Day we do what we can to protect our planet. This year the focus is on reducing the use of plastic bags and water bottles. Watch this Environment Day video to learn more about it!
What could you and your family do to protect the planet?
That me and my family could recycle reuse
That me and my family could recycle reuse
On your blog tell us three things that you could do to help save the planet.

My Presentation based on Environment Day - Beat Plastic Pollution!!!!
Task Description : For this First activity we had to come up with 3 ways to save our planet and i have maded a presentation to share my task and learning with you . My 3 ways to help save the planet was reduce recycle reuse and Say no to Plastic and last but not least Stop wasting food !! Hope you enjoy :)

Activity 2: Adoption Day [4 points]
Not only can you help the planet by reducing, reusing and recycling, you can also help to save animals and plants by ‘adopting’ them. To ‘adopt’ an animal through the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), you need to visit their adopt a species page, read through the list of animals and choose one.
With the WWF, you don’t actually adopt the animal and bring it home! It’s a symbolic adoption. In this case you pay a fee ($55.00) and the money is used to provide food and care for your chosen animal. Visit the WWF site and take a look at the animals who are available for adoption. Choose your ‘top three’ animals from the website.
On your blog, list the three animals that you have chosen and then compare and contrast them. How are they similar? How are they different? At the bottom of you post, tell us which of the three animals you would most like to adopt..

Sadly, the Summer Learning Journey has now come to an end. It is time to reflect on everything that you have learned about the environment and, particularly, about how you can protect and preserve it.
On your blog please tell us:
What is one thing that you learned from participating in the Summer Learning Journey programme this year?
What is one thing that surprised you?
What is one thing that concerned or upset you?
What is one thing that you (or your family) can do, moving forward, to help protect our natural environment?

ReplyDeleteFirst of all I would like to say a !!HUGE CONGRATULATIONS!! On finishing the last day of the last week’s activities, your such a star. I loved the posts you have recently blogged about, especially this post. You have done an amazing job with the final task of the SLJ programme and your answers to the questions from the SLJ members was super interesting. My favourite activity of your final day participating in this years SLJ, was:
Activity 3:
Your presentation was really cool as well as the little note to the SLJ members. I loved the note you have written to them as it was nice of you to do that, considering they were the ones who helped us have a bit of fun during the christmas holidays. Everything about your final tasks surprised me so much and I loved reading each and everyone of your activities as they were done super well.
Overall incredible finish to this year's SLJ programme. Keep up the amazing/awesome work hope to see more magnificent work from you soon!
Will you still be blogging from now and onwards?

ReplyDeleteGeorgia E here from Kaikohekohe (Northland) cluster! The Summer Learning Journey is coming to an end on Friday the 25th of January at 12pm, that’s tomorrow! Don’t forget that you can get extra points by posting meaningful, thoughtful and positive comments!
I have just stumbled across your blog and wow I am speechless, you’re work is so incredible!
You should be so proud of the work you have created!
I think I need a reminder in my phone about earth day! Well done on going into detail with your ‘ways to save the planet’, you give us so many different ways we can do this! I think I am going to try to say NO to plastic straws and bring my own metal straw. Do you think I can do this?
This is such a great idea! It is also an easy way to earn money as you get something sentimental (emotional) in return and a funky looking certificate! I really love how you have linked the definition of ‘symbolic’! Which animal would you support if you got a sample kit?
WOW! You have done a brilliant job on picking your animals that you would like to adopt, you have gone above and beyond! My favourite animal that you have chosen would be the Cheetah, because they are super quick and they look so majestic (having or showing impressive beauty). Well done on giving us so many facts, you have really put so much time and effort into this post.
Congratulations on completing the Summer Learning Journey, the team are so proud of all that you have accomplished within the past few weeks. It truly has been such a pleasure reading over your creative blog posts and seeing all the effort you have put into your work.
I am so glad that you have learnt about our environment and I know you will do everything you can to protect our beautiful country! You have started off the year with a huge accomplishment and I hope this year brings more!
See you at the end of year! We are so excited to have you back.
Cheers,
Georgia E

ReplyDeleteIt's me again. I'd first like to start off by saying a huge congrats for finishing the Summer Learning Journey. You have clearly set a great example for other Lillyana. You have chosen very interesting animals. I liked how you gave each animal three facts about it which is awesome. My favourite fact was how you said female cubs stay with the group as they age! Great work Lilly. Keep it up!
Cheers,
Amelia
