!!!Summer Learning Journey !!
WEEK 1: A Place to Stand
Day 3 AWESOME ANIMAL'S

DAY 3: Awesome Animals

Activity 1: Fantastic Beasts [4 points]
In New Zealand we have many unusual animals. One of the most unusual is the kiwi bird - a bird that does not have wings and can not fly. Pretty strange, eh?! J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter books, has recently written a new book about strange or unusual animals called ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.’
For this activity, please watch this cool book trailer. Year 7 and Year 8 students in South Auckland, New Zealand helped to make it. Once you have watched the video, use your imagination and create your very own beast. What does your beast look, smell, feel, and sound like?
On your blog, post a description of your beast. Use interesting adjectives (describing words) to tell us about your beast.

Task Description : For this task Me and My Friend Amelia deiced to work together on Fantastic Beast . We drawed our Beast's and we wrote our Descriptive Writing on the left hand side and then we though it would of been cool to do an small animation on google presentation so we did , Make sure to go on Amelia's amazing blog and show her some love and support !!!

Activity 2: The Secretive Skink [4 points]

We have a number of small lizards (geckos and skinks) living in New Zealand. One of the least common is the Chevron Skink. According to the Department of Conservation, Chevron Skinks live mostly on two islands - Great Barrier Island and Little Barrier Island. These islands are ‘animal reserves.’ Very few people, other than staff working for the New Zealand Department of Conservation (DOC), are allowed to live there. The DOC staff are called ‘Rangers.’ Their job is to protect the wildlife (animals and plants) living on the island.

Would you like to be a DOC ranger and live with the animals on Great Barrier Island?
On your blog list three pros (good things) and three cons (bad things) about working as a DOC ranger. At the bottom of your post, tell us whether you would like to be a DOC Ranger or not ???

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Task Description : For this Task I deiced to create a Google Drawing's for whether I would want to be a DOC Ranger Or Not and to also create my 3 Good and Bad Things about Being a DOC Ranger . In the Google Drawings it tell's you the 3 Good Things and 3 Bad Things about being a Ranger and whether I am wanting to be a Ranger , Also Click the Picture to get a better View , I had added 2 animals which was a Leopard and a Pora Bear and I have Image Attribute it from where i got it form you can click the red links to take you there to see where i had got the animals from .

Activity 3: The WWF: World Wildlife Fund [10 points]
In 1961, a number of people came together to start an organisation called the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). The main goal of this organisation was/is to protect life on earth. Hundreds of WWF staff work in countries all over the world trying to protect our planet and the animals who live here. To learn more about their amazing work, click on one of the two video links below

Clip #2: Tigers

Once you have watched the video, go to your blog and, using full sentences, tell us:

1) The name of the animal the WWF is working to save.
2) What the WWF is doing to help the animal.

3) What, if any, success they have had protecting the animal.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WFF is Working to save the Freshwater Seals ( which are endangered in the world  ) , WFF is helping the Freshwater Seals by building snowbanks for the arriving new born baby Freshwater seals , and if they don't build Snowbanks the Seal pups could die , The Success that the WWF Team is working to save the Freshwater Seals is Amazing because they are build snowbanks to save the freshwater seals , WFF is doing an Amazing job on saving our Animals !!!!

Task Description : For this task we had to watch 2 videos but sadly the tiger one was restricted so I couldn't do that one , Anyways We had to watch the video and answer the three questions that were given for the task ( 1) The name of the animal the WWF is working to save , 2) What the WWF is doing to help the animal. , 3) What, if any, success they have had protecting the animal. Over All the whole thing of Day 3 was hard to do but hey I got it Done !!!

  1. Kia ora & Namaste Lillyana,
Wow! What a fantastic job you have done here! Ka Mau te Wehi!
Activity 1: Fantastic Beasts - In this post you went beyond expectations by creating an animation and working collaboratively with Amelia. Also, I like the super power you gave to your beast, specially the mind reading one. If I have a beast, I would most definitely add mind reading as a power, plus the ability to get in small places and have video record eyes so it can show me what is happening. Have you watch the movie Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald ? I went to see it with my daughter and we both loved it so much, I really recommend!

Activity 2: The Secretive Skink - You post made me smile because you have been so honest about the fact that you are not sure if you want or not be a doc ranger and I really like that because I can see that you have been genuine in your writing. Furthermore, what a great poster you did! The information is clear and the colours and images made it very fun and eye catching. Also, you are doing a great job by making the correct attribution to the images you are using. Ka pai!

Activity 3: The WWF: World Wildlife Fund - You did complete the task well and stick to the main points on your answers. Also, it is nice that you took time to explain about the importance of the snow banks in order for the fresh water seals being able to give birth to their cubs as that give your readers a good context to understand what is that you are writing about. As a constructive feedback I think you could added a picture of the freshwater seals in this post to make it a bit more visual and appealing to your readers.
Keep up with the awesome work!
    Kia kaha,
    Patricia
